A confession list for adults
40 Never Have I Ever Questions for Girls Night
Forty original prompts for an adult girls night, from funny habits to dating, nights out, and a spicier round for close friends. Play with fingers. Add a sip or a one-sentence forfeit only if the whole group wants that.
How to play (fingers, sips or forfeits)
Everyone holds up ten fingers. One person reads a prompt that starts with "never have I ever". If you have done it, you put one finger down. If you have not, you stay still. Play until someone reaches zero, or until the list and the room are both finished. With four people, five fingers is plenty. Ten fingers on a small sofa turns the game into a census.
Pick the extra rule before the first prompt, and do not change it halfway. If the group is drinking, a finger down can also mean a sip. If nobody is drinking, a finger down can mean a forfeit of one sentence, and then the reader moves on. Fingers alone are a complete game. You do not need a drink to make a confession count. A round where one person answers a question or takes an optional sip, instead of the whole group putting a finger down, is the truth or drink questions.
Honesty is invited, not policed
Leaving a finger up is allowed, even when your friends are suspicious. A story is optional. Nobody shows a photo, a name, or a message. If a prompt does not belong in this room, the reader skips it.
Read the lists in order. The funny ten work while people are still arriving. Dating and nights-out prompts fit once the group is laughing. The spicy ten are for adults who have agreed to a franker round. These questions assume everyone playing is old enough to choose what they admit. If the guest list is mixed, or the night is a hen do with family in the room, stay on the funny list or switch to the hen party games at home.
One reader is enough. She holds the phone, reads, watches the fingers, and does not interview the person who put a finger down. If you want lines for a different shape of game while you are setting up, the girls night questions to ask are open questions rather than confessions, and the no-equipment games need no list at all.
10 funny
Low stakes, still specific. They teach the room that a finger down can be funny without becoming a biography.
- Never have I ever rehearsed a story in the taxi so it would land better at the table.
- Never have I ever said I was five minutes away while I was still choosing shoes.
- Never have I ever photographed my food and then eaten it cold.
- Never have I ever sent a voice note and immediately wished I had typed one sentence.
- Never have I ever laughed at a joke I did not understand because the table had already started.
- Never have I ever saved an outfit for a night that never became special enough to wear it.
- Never have I ever agreed to a plan I quietly hoped would be cancelled.
- Never have I ever hidden a shopping bag so I would not have to explain it tonight.
- Never have I ever practised a conversation and then said something else entirely.
- Never have I ever told a story about this group and made myself sound calmer than I was.
10 dating and exes
About judgment, not gossip. Leave names out. If an ex is friends with someone in the room, skip the prompt.
- Never have I ever kept a conversation going because the attention was doing more for me than the person.
- Never have I ever reread an old thread after I had already told people I was fine.
- Never have I ever gone on a second date to prove the first one was not that bad.
- Never have I ever been more honest with my friends about a date than I was with the person on it.
- Never have I ever stayed friendly with an ex and then realised I was still auditioning.
- Never have I ever ignored a red flag because the first month felt easy.
- Never have I ever drafted a message to an ex and let a friend delete it for me.
- Never have I ever dated someone my friends understood before I did.
- Never have I ever pretended I had not seen a story, because replying would have restarted something.
- Never have I ever ended something kindly and then checked whether they had noticed.
10 nights out
For the part of the night everyone remembers differently. Still no audience outside the room.
- Never have I ever lost the group and decided I was having a better time.
- Never have I ever said I was leaving and then stayed for one more song, three times.
- Never have I ever borrowed a friend's confidence and returned it in worse condition.
- Never have I ever danced only because someone I wanted to talk to was already dancing.
- Never have I ever made a firm plan for food on the way home and then accepted a different one.
- Never have I ever spent more getting to the night than I spent on anything we did there.
- Never have I ever left the main room because the conversation was better in the hallway.
- Never have I ever taken a photo I knew I would not post, just to remember who was there.
- Never have I ever agreed to one drink in a voice that fooled nobody, including me.
- Never have I ever found this group again by the sound of one specific laugh.
10 spicy (adults)
Attraction, tension, and nights that got more interesting. Tasteful on purpose. No photos, no names, and no proof.
- Never have I ever sent a bold text and then locked my phone as if it might answer by itself.
- Never have I ever kissed someone the same night I met them and kept the retelling short on purpose.
- Never have I ever left a party with someone because the tension was better than the room.
- Never have I ever been attracted to a person I could already describe as a bad idea.
- Never have I ever flirted my way out of a conversation I did not want to finish honestly.
- Never have I ever kept a crush quiet because saying it would have changed this group.
- Never have I ever gone back to someone after I had already told my friends the ending.
- Never have I ever let a night become a story I would only tell once the details were softer.
- Never have I ever wanted to be wanted more than I wanted the actual plan.
- Never have I ever had obvious chemistry with someone and chosen not to do anything about it.
If the group wants a franker question list after this round, the 18+ girls night questions are the opt-in set, including After Dark. They are a different game from Never Have I Ever, and they still need a yes from everyone playing.
When the list runs out
Forty prompts are one good sitting if the stories run long. The phone game has its own Never Have I Ever deck, with Chill, Fun, and Spicy cards that are not this list. Open it when you want the next confession dealt instead of read in order. Chill is the easy round. Fun is louder. Spicy is the bolder dating round, and it stays off until you choose it. Fingers, a sip, or one sentence still work as the house rule. The deck does not police an answer.
If the room wants a different shape, Truth is one honest answer and then the next card. Most Likely To is the vote: everyone points, and the winner gets a sentence of defence. Challenge is the dare half if the sofa wants something to do. Read the truth or dare questions if you want lines in front of you, the Most Likely To questions if pointing sounds kinder than another confession, and the would you rather questions if the room wants a choice instead. On the phone, you can add those categories beside Never Have I Ever. Switch Bride Mode off unless someone is actually getting married. The one-phone bachelorette guide is the hosting plan for that night.
Open one phone, pass it after each card, and let the shuffle pick. The first 6 cards are free, including this deck. You are not continuing this exact list inside the game. You are keeping the same confession shape with a deck that does not run out in the same order.
Play the Never Have I Ever deck.
The phone opens on that deck. Chill, Fun, and Spicy are on the setup screen. The first 6 cards are free.

How do you play with fingers, sips, or forfeits?
Hold up ten fingers, or five if the group is small. When you have done the thing, put one finger down. If the group is drinking, that can also mean a sip. If nobody is drinking, it can mean a one-sentence story. Pick one house rule before the first prompt and keep it.
Do we have to drink?
No. Drinks are optional. The game still works with fingers only, or with a short story as a forfeit. A person who does not want to admit something simply leaves the finger up. Nobody has to prove an answer.
How many people do you need?
Four to eight adults is the comfortable range. With four, use five fingers so the round lasts. With eight, one reader is enough, and a story stays optional so the circle does not stall.
When should we use the spicy list?
After the funny round, and only if every adult in the room has agreed. The spicy prompts are about attraction and nights that got more interesting. They do not ask for photos, names, or messages. If someone new is still settling in, stay on the funny list.
Does the phone game have a Never Have I Ever deck?
Yes. There is a Never Have I Ever deck with Chill, Fun, and Spicy cards. The first 6 cards are free. This page is a separate list you can read aloud.
