40 Truth or Dare Questions for Girls Night

Honest truths, dares you can do without leaving the sofa, and a spicier set for close friends. Read them in order, or let a shuffled Truth and Challenge deck deal the next card so nobody has to host.

How to play truth or dare at girls night (the pass rule)

Sit where everyone can hear one voice. Pick a reader for the round. She reads a single prompt, the group plays it, and the turn moves clockwise. You do not need a score, a timer, or a second phone. A second phone usually becomes a group chat.

The pass rule is the game, not a footnote. Anyone may say pass. She does not owe a reason, a softer version, or a dare instead. The reader says "next" and moves on. The first person who passes should get the same tone as everyone else. If the room teases a pass, people stop telling the truth and start performing. If the group wants an optional sip instead of a dare, that format is the truth or drink questions, and it stays a question list.

Say this once, then keep it

We are playing for fun. Pass is a full turn. Stories stay in this room. If a topic is closed, name it now. We will not post anything, and we will not pull in anyone who is not here.

Use the lists in order. Chill truths and sofa dares work while people are still arriving. Juicy truths and bold dares are for close friends who have already agreed to a spicier round. If the room goes quiet after a card, that is the signal to drop back a level. You can always deal an easier prompt. You cannot un-ask a question.

These prompts are for an adult girls night. They assume everyone playing is old enough to choose what they share. If the group includes someone who did not opt into a spicy round, stay on the first two lists.

10 chill truths

Low-stakes and specific. They give people something true to say without turning the sofa into an interview.

  1. What is a small Saturday plan that would actually make your week better?
  2. Which friend here would you trust to order for the whole table, and why?
  3. What is a skill you use at work that your friends never see?
  4. What song do you play when you are alone in the kitchen?
  5. What is a polite opinion you dropped once you got to know someone better?
  6. Where do you take a friend who has never been to your neighbourhood?
  7. What habit did you steal from someone in this room?
  8. What does a good morning look like before anyone texts you?
  9. Which compliment do you wave away even when you want to keep it?
  10. What is a promise you kept to yourself in the last year?

10 funny dares you can do on the sofa

No props, no audience outside the room, and no reason to stand up. If a dare needs a prop you do not have, skip it.

  1. Explain how to sit on a sofa as if the group has never seen furniture.
  2. Give the cushion nearest you a thirty-second performance review.
  3. Re-enact the walk from the door to the sofa when you are the last to arrive. Stay seated after that.
  4. Hum a song you claim you do not like until someone names it. You may only nod.
  5. Describe the last meal you cooked as a news bulletin.
  6. Keep a straight face for fifteen seconds while the group tries to make you laugh. If you laugh, you pick the next truth.
  7. Invent a museum plaque for your shoes and read it in a gallery voice.
  8. Retell how this night was planned, in the style of a courtroom, without naming anyone who is not here.
  9. Teach a three-move dance that can be done without standing up.
  10. Introduce the next player like a stadium announcer, using only her first name.

10 juicy truths for close friends

Use these only after the easy round. They are honest, not explicit. A pass is still a complete answer.

  1. What is a dating opinion you hold that this group would push back on?
  2. When did you last pretend to be busier than you were, and what were you avoiding?
  3. What green flag did you only notice after someone was already gone?
  4. Have you ever stayed in a conversation because the attention felt good, not because you were interested?
  5. What is a generous thing you did and then decided not to mention?
  6. Which of your standards is real, and which one is a story that keeps you from choosing?
  7. What is a message you drafted, never sent, and still remember?
  8. Who gets the polished version of you, and who gets the unedited one?
  9. What boundary did you set late, and what finally made you set it?
  10. What do you want this group to still do together in five years, even if diaries get harder?

10 bold dares (no strangers, nothing posted)

Bolder, still on the sofa. Nobody outside the group is part of the turn, and nothing is filmed for later.

  1. Let the group speak a two-sentence dating bio for you. Nobody types it, and nobody posts it.
  2. Show your polite smile, then your real smile. Do not impersonate anyone outside the room.
  3. Give a twenty-second speech about a friend here who tells you the truth. It has to be specific.
  4. Rank humour, ambition and kindness for a first date, then let one person disagree for one sentence.
  5. Describe the last person who flustered you without a name, a workplace, or a photo.
  6. Tap a song on the table until someone joins the rhythm. Phones stay down.
  7. Say one low-stakes opinion you usually soften before it leaves your mouth.
  8. Give the person on your left a bold compliment and one real offer of help.
  9. Mime leaving a dull date, using only the sofa. Do not tell a story about a real person.
  10. Choose the next card's temperature out loud: one more bold dare, or back to a chill truth. You take the same choice.

Turn truth or dare into a shuffled deck

This page is a sample. Forty prompts are enough for one sitting if the stories run long, and then the reader is stuck choosing what comes next. A deck removes that job. Girls Night Games has a Truth category and a Challenge category, which is the dare half. Each card also has a level: Chill, Fun, or Spicy. The phone shuffles the cards that match what you picked, so the same group can play again without repeating the opening.

On the setup screen, leave Truth and Challenge selected and switch the other categories off if you want only this game. Then pick the level. Chill matches the first two lists. Fun sits in the middle. Spicy is the bolder round, and it stays off until you choose it. Bride Mode is a separate category and it starts off, which is what you want on a normal girls night. If the night is actually for a bride, the one-phone bachelorette guide is the hosting plan, and the hen party games at home are the better fit for a mixed-age hen do.

After Dark is a separate adults-only deck. The 18+ question guide explains when that round fits. It does not belong in a circle that has not opted in. If you want voting prompts between truths, the Most Likely To questions are a different game, and the no-equipment games cover the gap when the phone needs a charge.

Open the game on one phone, read a card, and pass it. Start with the first 6 cards free and see whether the room likes the level. Nobody has to memorise this list.

Let the phone deal the next card.

Leave Truth and Challenge on, pick Chill, Fun, or Spicy, and pass one phone around the sofa.

FAQ

What is the pass rule?

Anyone can say pass, with no reason and no substitute question. The reader moves to the next person. A pass is a finished turn. Do not ask for the real answer after someone passes.

How many people do you need?

Three to eight adults sharing one sofa is the easy range. With three, everyone answers often, so stay on the chill list longer. With eight, keep one reader so the circle does not split into side conversations.

When should we use the juicy truths and bold dares?

After the group has already laughed together. Those two lists are for close friends who have agreed to a spicier round. If someone in the room is new, or the mood is still polite, stay on the chill truths and the sofa dares.

Do the bold dares involve strangers or social media?

No. Every bold dare stays with the people already playing. Nothing is posted, nothing is filmed for anyone outside the room, and a stranger is not part of the turn. If a dare needs a prop you do not have, skip it.

Is this the full Truth and Challenge deck?

No. These 40 prompts are a sample you can read aloud. The game has Truth and Challenge decks with Chill, Fun and Spicy levels, and it shuffles them so nobody has to host. First 6 cards free.
